Jazz Vespers

St. Lawrence Episcopal Church, Libertyville

The purpose of the Vespers service is to honor jazz musicians and jazz music in the church. The Libertyville High School Jazz Combo will perform at 6:30 before the Vespers service begins at 7:00 with special guest artist Robin Watson. Intermixed with the musicians' music will be a brief liturgy of evening prayer.

Jazz vocalist Robin is described to be an appealing blend of Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington, Carmen McRae and Nina Simone and she has appeared at many of Chicago's premiere jazz venues. She has wooed audiences from large stages Petrillo Bandshell, Garfield Park Conservatory, Pheasant Run, United Center, and from more intimate music rooms at the Jazz Showcase, Peninsula Hotel,

Braxton's, Tuscany's, John & Tony's, Metropolitan Club, Union League Club, Como Inn, Backroom and Cotton Club.

Jazz vespers is an early evening service focusing on the gift of jazz. Come and celebrate live jazz in a family friendly setting. The service is free (free will offering) and all are welcome. Following the Vespers program a coffee and refreshment hour is held in the church Narthex.
