Serve within the church.

Worship services at St. Lawrence are the culmination of the efforts of many staff and volunteers who work to create a beautiful, welcoming, and meaningful worship experience. We invite you to explore the many ministries that contribute to our worship, and find where your gifts or interests might lie. Training is provided for all roles, and most of these ministries allow for flexible scheduling. To inquire about getting involved, contact the email address listed under each opportunity.

Ministry Opportunities

ACOLYTES

Acolytes carry the cross and torches in procession during worship and assist the clergy in preparing for Communion. We welcome people of all ages, adults and children, to serve as acolytes. The minimum age is 8, and there is no maximum!

ALTAR GUILD

The Altar Guild sets up and cleans the sanctuary for worship, tending to the vessels of the altar, the vestments and altar cloths, candles, and liturgical décor. This ministry typically involves a once-a-month commitment of both Saturday setup and Sunday cleanup.

CHOIR

The St. Lawrence Choir is a volunteer ensemble that leads the music for certain 9:00 am Sunday services and special holiday services throughout the year. Our members come from all age groups and musical backgrounds. For more information and the schedule, please see here.

COFFEE HOUR HOSTS

Coffee hour hosts allow us to continue to offer hospitality after the Sunday service by brewing coffee and serving light refreshments in the narthex (foyer).

COUNTERS

Counters collect, tally, and deposit the offerings from Sunday services.

LECTORS

Lectors read the assigned Scripture passages in church and lead the Prayers of the People.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

The Sunday School team assists in leading children’s Sunday School each week. We currently offer two Sunday School classrooms: Montessori-based Godly Play for younger children (ages 3-8) and a Junior program for children ages 8 and up.

USHERS

Ushers support the congregation throughout the worship service. They welcome congregants, distribute worship bulletins, take up the offering, help guide the congregation forward for communion, and collect visitor cards and discarded bulletins following each service.
